On offer from our personal collection is an exceptional bronze Ife royal head from the Yoruba people of Nigeria. Hand-sculpted & cast using the lost wax method, the bronzes from the Ife & Benin regions are considered to be amongst the finest in the world.

With a powerful & particularly handsome visage, this bronze head has been beautifully sculpted. The refined facial features, most notably the eyes, eyelids, & lips, are wrought with superb detail. And the headdress/crown shows excellent detailing, as well. The face bears characteristic vertical striations.

A large & very heavy casting, this magnificent piece is in very good overall condition, with a rich, well-developed patina & some oxidization. Stunning display.
