Description:
On offer from our personal collection is this elegant bronze sculpture from the Dogon peoples of Mali.
A quiet dignity characterizes this female form. Presenting breasts with her stylized arms, her figure is ornamented with a neck-collar, as well as arm, wrist, & ankle bracelets. The front of her elongated torso bears scarifications, & she wears a simple loin cloth.
In very good overall condition, this evocative lost wax casting has a wonderful oxidized patina, & is a testament to the skilled artistry of the Dogon metalsmiths. The piece needs a little help standing, with a small shim or other form of support. Beautiful display.
