Description:
On offer from our private collection is this classic & enchanting enamel on bronze cloisonne charger plate from Japan. Set against a blue field, a lone bird in flight is depicted amongst a delicate floral setting of chrysanthemums, peonies, rosebuds, etc. A repetitive motif forms the border, & a decorative swirl pattern (which we believe represents flowing water) is found on the back.
We believe this charger dates from the late 19th century. And despite a few minor imperfections, primarily the result of the casting process, the piece is in very good overall antique condition. Exquisite display.
