Description:
From our personal collection, on offer is this striking sun mask from the Bobo/Bwa peoples of Burkina Faso. Representing the sun, such masks are danced in praise of agricultural fecundity.
Characterized by bold geometric patterns, this piece has magical qualities... the longer you stare at it, the more it 'moves'... A contrasting 2-tone triangular motif set in concentric rings generates a forcefield of energy, drawing the viewer's attention inward towards the penetrating circular eyes. Visually effective!
Overall condition: despite a few imperfections in the wood, including a few scrapes & abrasions, this vibrant mask is in very good overall condition. Powerful display.
