Carved from very heavy, dense wood, on offer from our personal collection is this outstanding ancestor figure from the Bangwa peoples of the Cameroon region.
Befitting the tribal queen she represents, she is adorned with jewelry indicating her royal status, including a collar & neck rings, bracelets, & anklets, & in each hand, she clutches a power object. Depicted singing, the statue's characteristic stance & pose is classic in form with her open mouth, stocky legs bent at the knees, prominent breasts, & bulbous buttocks.
