Bambara Bronze Woman with Bowl

Depicting a woman carrying a bowl balanced atop her head, on offer from our personal collection is this marvelous bronze sculpture from the Bambara peoples of Mali.

An understated elegance characterizes this female form. The torso of her elongated form bears scarifications front & back, & her hair features a double-plaited coiffure. She wears a simple loin cloth.

This superb lost wax casting has an encrusted patina & shows signs of oxidation. In very good overall condition, the piece is a testament to the skilled artistry of the Bambara metalcrafters. Wonderful display.
